Ideas

I decided to go with the limited edition sign for a chance to win meet and greet tickets, and the sticker I chose was the first one ( black ) as it goes with the theme of my digipak. I liked the idea of having a competition on my digipak as people are paying more for this and I wanted the band to give their fans something back like winning a chance to meet them. 

Font changes

These are the fonts I have found, I really really like the top ' Dolce Vita ' font as it is in the middle of Lana Del Rey and Haims typography. I think this would suit the group really well. It reminds me of a magazine typography and I think this will fit with my genre and also the image.

Photos

These are the photos we took for our digipak, I am very pleased with how theses have turned out. They are so much better than our last attempt and we are a lot more equipped this time round. The outfits were planned and the shots we were taking we planned as well. The next step is filming which we will plan at some point this week or next.

Digipak ideas

We have taken inspiration from the band Haim and have looked in detail at their images and how they are positioned within their photos. I have decided that the lighting needs to be different as the sun was out focusing us and making the lighting not look professional. We really wanted to portray a natural and relaxed and not planned photo-shoot, however it was more difficult for us to be relaxed as we couldn't stop laughing and it was freezing! I think we need to be more serious when it comes to taking our photos, but take photos that are unplanned to get a better effect.

9th November

Journal Entry:

The photo taking has been very difficult this week as the feedback we had been given has knocked us back a little bit. Our photos and clothing just don't seem to work. Where we want our photos and video to portray a nature feel our clothing was too busy for the background and people weren't sure if they was looking at the back ground or us. So we are planning on changing that, however at the moment we are planning on our story boards and the filming. For my first page on the digipak I was thinking of having a similar photo however having me and the girls will be more relaxed and joking about on a bench, acting more like we know each other rather than being too serious as this is what I am wanting to avoid.

Our pitch

This is our pitch to the class about After Midnight, and I have posted the feedback that the class gave us and we are on the way to making some changes. Hearing other peoples pitches has also helped us and we have given back feedback that also we can apply to our own work.

Feedback from the pitch

We have taken the feedback into consideration and have made various changes, such as the logo; we have decided to change that as we agreed it didn't fit our genre. I am overall very pleased that people agreed with the bands name and that the song was a good choice for our genre. It took us ages to find an appropriate song choice as we was unsure what would fit our genre. Where people had mentioned the bands image, I feel we have a secure idea of what we want our band too look like, however we just did not mention this within our brief. The whole train idea was a brief idea we had touched upon, but we agree with the feedback that we will struggle due to the implications that may follow with filming on a train. Seeing as we have over come a lot of the problems we have been faced with I don't think this will be a problem for us. 

New typography

From getting our feedback from the class, they have decided that maybe our typography isn't the best for our genre of music. So after hearing this we have decided to find other fonts that display our genre more clearly than our one we have now.

Here are some examples we have found:

My favorite is the bottom 'Leaf 1' because it fits in with our genre and unlike the other one it hasn't made people think of a horror genre. This is more light and natural and fits in with the nature feel. Although my favourite is that one, I have struggled to use it for my digipak due to the colours and it being quite a thin text, so in the end I have gone with the middle one, as this is still similar to the bottom one, but stand out a bit more

5th November

Journal Entry: 

Today we decided to start taking photos for our digipak. Since the weather has been bad we haven't been able to take any. So we went to Danson park because of the scenery. Overall the photos turned out pretty good as we have decided we do not need any more. However if our teacher disagrees we will have to take some more. We tried to go for the natural look so we took 2 photos at a time to catch us of guard and the best ones seemed to be the second photo as it didn't look too forced. However we did have a serious tone to the photos

Main Props

Our main props for the photos for our digipaks are an acoustic guitar as this will play a big part throughout the whole of our idea. By using an acoustic guitar it will make the group seem more relaxed and quite calm as this is what an acoustic guitar is meant to do. We will be using alcohol bottles and microphones and the scenery to create the mood of the party from the ' night before '.

 

Places to film

Here are places we want to film and take photos, we wanted to record in places such as various locations around London, Camden and also places like the woods and also parks.

Godwins theory consists of visuals and the lyrics matching, so we have decided things like the Big Ben ( tower) which will match the lyrics to our chosen song. 

Clothing ideas

Here is a collage of our clothing ideas, we have chose these because they fit the stereotypes of the indie style and the song also matches very well. We wanted our band to be free and ' comfy ' and with these styles we have managed to make that happen.

We decided to keep the actors as ourselfs to avoid complications with other members, we wanted to avoid the dramas of last year where we had to rely on other people and if they let us down we would be behind. So by us all being our own actors we don't have to rely on others. We also live very close to each other so we can meet up easily and help each other.

Journal Entry: 

We have decided to record our discussions this week as we thought it would be easier to get across our ideas, and here is what we have discussed today. I felt that we found it easier to discuss and you can here all of us inputting ideas together.

Feedback

This is our feedback from our questionnaire, I think people have been fair with us as this is the whole reason for the feedback. We will adapt the negative feedback as positive for the reason that we will then work on what people do not like and then also what they do like and make it better. 

Audience Profile

For our brief to tell the class my job was to write about the target audience and below is what we have discussed to be our target audience. 

For our target audience we have aimed our music and style of the band towards female teenagers, possibly in college or at a 6^th form. We have chosen a wide age gap because as our band is around that age it would fit in and we would attract the ‘teenagers’. Also because our bands psychographics are that of a party animal, but also one who is very interested in the music industry. We said the style would be one who hasn’t stuck to the mainstream conventions, because the audience dislikes were wannabes, girlie girls and girls who are more interested in the latest fashion and copying the ‘popular’ girls. We wanted our audience to be carefree and be able to be who they want to be, so there fore this would fit the ‘indie’ stereotypes.  However we have decided that the oldest age group we would probably appeal to would be around 25, this is because older people may be into the ‘calm’ nature of music, and 25 is around the age everyone comes to an end of the partying every weekend.

These are our mood boards for our artist, we have created our mood board in the shape of a moon to match our artist name. The gold around the moon is to create a night star look, we decided to levitate the actual moon to give a bold feel to this. The colours and the name almost contadict the whole idea we had in mind, however it works well due to the moon being covered in ' indie ' things ( our genre ) and then also the darl back ground suggests that the artist likes to go out and have a good night with friends, which then also goes in with our genre.
