27th February

Journal Entry:

In my post below I spoke about how we had changed clips to fit the pace of the video and below are what we have made changes too.

This is the clip we put in place which gives the video more pace again which is what we needed to do to improve our music video
These were the photos we put in for a montage however we have no changed this as we thought it didn't go in time with the video, and this photo has been placed next the the below photo after we had cut down the footage.
This clip we shortened as the pace picks up quite a lot and we didn't have enough pace to give the video more of a vibe so we have changed this clip and added in another one.
This shot is what we have changed to meet the feedback our teacher spoke about regarding the first lyric to be sung so this is what we have used there and where this clip used to be we have changed to the montage.

Journal Entry:

Earlier on this week we had feedback from our teacher and since then we have made changes to our video, we have included a montage of photos near the end to keep the pace up, however we now need to pick up the pace at the beginning. We have also at the beginning included the song title and the artist name.

Today we have had feedback from the class, and we are very pleased with what we have heard. They all liked the montage of the photos as the pace is picked up and we have also cut shots to make them shorter and so they don't drag on as much. We decided to change some shots around and mix them up a little bit because we had shots that went better with the music and the beat. There are still some shots we are unsure of because they look out of place. Through out the process we have had one clip of cars that we sped up that was out side my house, we couldn't decide if we should or not keep it and today we found a place to put it, instead of having a montage of photos we swapped them with the footage of the cars, this yet again helps us with the pace of the video.

We was also told today that in the first chorus we didn't have anyone singing the first line and that we only had me singing the back up which we have now changed. I am also very pleased we have finally replaced the shot of us all on the bench with the guitar as I felt that shot wasn't needed.
Our deadline is coming up soon so we are going to be working on getting the final touches ready. I am very pleased with the feedback along the way and that everyone agrees we have come a long way and made a lot of improvements since our last showing!

13th February

Journal Entry:

Today we showed Leanne our second draft for the music video and she has shown us various clips to change again. There is one shot of Hayley and I sitting on the bench with Holly playing the guitar and she said the clip doesn't go well because there is only one voice singing and we are both lip singing so we are going to change that today. Also she said there was one pace with the footage throughout the video and that it doesn't go well with the backing track. So what we have decided to do was have jump cuts within the video to make some shots shorter and give the video a quicker pace.

For example the clips of us the arcade are quite long and Leanne suggested that we jump cut the footage and give the clips different angles so the pace quickens. We all agreed with these comments.

These are the jump cuts taking place. The first image is where the beat picks up and before the footage was relatively boring and now we have picked up the pace with a better and more fun video.

6th February

Journal Entry:

Throughout the week we have all participated in editing the footage and Hayley has been changing the colouring of the footage to make the blue shots more clear and match the rest of the footage. Today Holly and I edited the rest of the footage that we filmed the other day and have changed shots that we didn't like.
The positions of the shots have changed and also the colouring that I mentioned earlier. We have now finished the second draft of our video.

This is the first stage of changing the colouring to match the rest of the video.

22nd January

Journal Entry:

Today we filmed the fire scene, this was very difficult as we spent a lot of the time trying to get the fire started. Eventually we managed too however it began getting dark so we will have to edit the shot to make it more light. The shot looks really good despite the difficulty! Hopefully the class does too and we don't have to re shoot.

20th January

Journal Entry:

Today we filmed the last bit at Holly's which was the fire. This took us ages to do as the logs of fire wouldn't catch light. These shots turned out really well and I am very pleased with the outcome. Me and Hayley have edited the majority of the last filming and have left some for Holly to complete. We will be ready for the showing on Thursday to our class.

19th January

Journal Entry:

Today me and the girls went out to London to start filming the other shots. We went to various places such as London Bridge, Trafalgar Square, Waterloo, Piccadilly Circus, South Bank and Trocadero.

Some of the shots we took ended up being photos as we thought they would look better, The weather was kind to us as well and we managed to get quite a lot done. Sometimes the sun would get in the way of the shots, however we still got past them. We took shots of the Bridge, Big Ben, people walking, us going up stairs and other various locations. We didn't really stick to the story boards as much as we should have however a lot of our shots relate some how.

The intertextual reference had to be changed as it didn't really work that well, so instead we are going to use shots from the London filming.

15th January

Journal Entry:

Today we filmed most of the footage at my house, testing out shots and changing shots we didn't like. We changed a shot of Hayley and we all prefer the new ones we shot. We also done a test shot of Hayley that turned out really well and have decided to put them in the video. We thought we was going  too much by the lyrics so we tried to mix up the scenes a little bit by being more casual and jokey with the footage.
Tomorrow I will be editing the footage.

10th January

Journal Entry:

Today we began editing our footage and we are very pleased with what we have filmed so far. The three of us are taking it in turns to edit the footage so we can all participate in the editing. Some shots we chose we either sang too slow or too fast, or not in time, because we filmed more than once we had more shots too choose from which is good. There are some shots we want to change when we go back to danson on Tuesday as we didn't like the turnout.
The locations left to film in are; my house, Holly's house and London. The good things about these shots are that they aren't long, the London ones consist of signs and places. The ones in mine and Holly's houses range from similar shots.

9th January - filming

Journal Entry:

Today the girls and I went to Danson park to finish of filming the rest of the Danson scenes. We had a bit of a difficult time as the weather was unsure what to do and we didn't want to make the colour of the scenes differ from the previous ones. We got done everything we wanted to and tomorrow we will be editing the bits we filmed. We have decided that on Wednesday we will be going to my house to film some more as I have fake grass we can lay down on the grass which we hope will be similar to the intertextual reference we decided to do.
The good thing about the weather was that because we was trying to get the best light we was arranging the camera in different positions and therefore we had more choice of shots. Some shots came out too dark on the camera but when we put them on the computer the light had come through better.

17th December ( Final digipak )

Journal Entry:

Today I have done a lot of playing around with my digipak, from changing photos around to making competitions for the band to have on the digipak. I am pleased with the outcome of what I have achieved today.

I wanted to do a 'unheard song' logo, but don't want to put it on my digipak as I wanted it to be an outside internet thing, so for instance they heard about it on itunes that there was going to be an unheard song on the album. I will be putting this on my poster.

This is the outcome of my digpak so far. On the back of my digipak I have included information about the competition and then inside I have hidden a code that they will need. I deliberately did not put it on the back for the reason that anyone could pick the digipak up and just use the code without buying the digipak, so therefore I placed this inside.

9th December

Journal Entry:

Today we began filming, we went to Danson park to film various shots. The first part we took of the sign for Danson park as this was what decided to use for the jump shot at the beginning of the music video. We had to change the position of the camera as the lighting would be different from the other footage. There was some places we wanted to film however the lighting was to dark for.
Before we started filming we went through the story boards so we could see what we was able to film within the time we had and we ticked each box off as we went. We was very lucky with the weather as the footage that was filmed looked a summers day, we just need to choose the days to film for the rest of the footage. I am very pleased with how we are progressing and will now begin editing the clips we have shot.

Discussions

28th November

Journal Entry:

Today we have recorded a discussion about the ideas we have come up with, these have been placed in a video. I have also made a video of photos I used for my digipak and the other photos we have taken. I am proud of my progress today and will continue updating and making more progress.

28th November

Journal Entry:

Today I have been looking at different locations for us to film in. I have also seen the open buses day out in London and I have been comparing prices and different locations that we can go on to film. Seeing as it is sightseeing we will be allowed to film around London.

I have found some good deals so that we aren't paying a lot of money just for one day. I have also found that we could be more open and either go on the boat ride around London or the big red bus that they have there. So far I have found the boat trips for around £17 per person and then for the bus I have found it for about £21-£25.

15th November

Journal Entry:

Today we went to my house to take more photos for our digipak. We took around 265 photos and are from there I have selected the best photos to use. We took more photos because our others did not look like the genre we wanted to portray. The new photos are a lot more relaxed since we had someone else keep taking the photos which was a lot easier and us as a group could be more natural. We have taken photos in my garden, in my back room with a cup of tea, on the stairs and then individual photos that we thought would be interesting.

Discussions

We decided we should have a discussion about our progress within the task, and our teacher has listened to how we have gotten on and shared ideas with us. We have shown her our story boards and also discussed problems we may have had if we chose certain routes. Overall I am pleased that our teacher is happy with our progress so far. We still have a lot to do but we will get there!

14th November

Journal Entry:

Today me and my group have been finishing and discussing our story boards and what we need to include. We have filled out a big sheet with our Goodwin references and decided that we need to work on our intertextual references. We have spoken with Leanne and she suggested Blondie as our intertextual reference. We have taken this and researched into her music videos and have come up with a couple of ideas to help us.
Me and my group have assigned little jobs for the time being, I have suggested I will look into the locations and come up with ideas on where and how we will shoot them.

9th November

Journal Entry:

The photo taking has been very difficult this week as the feedback we had been given has knocked us back a little bit. Our photos and clothing just don't seem to work. Where we want our photos and video to portray a nature feel our clothing was too busy for the background and people weren't sure if they was looking at the back ground or us. So we are planning on changing that, however at the moment we are planning on our story boards and the filming. For my first page on the digipak I was thinking of having a similar photo however having me and the girls will be more relaxed and joking about on a bench, acting more like we know each other rather than being too serious as this is what I am wanting to avoid.
